My story

A Path To Call Your Own has grown out of my life-long quest to live a meaningful life.

As a young man, I remember reading these words by Henry David Thoreau for the first time:

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.”

At that moment, something within me woke up. A voice inside was calling. Right then, I made a decision: I too would live deliberately. I too would pursue a meaningful life, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

This was the first step on a long journey that would lead me to the world’s great spiritual traditions, to yoga and meditation, to psychology and philosophy, to poetry and creativity.

I was searching for a path. A path to call my own.

Following that path is easier said than done, especially when other people’s expectations become louder than the small, still voice within.

At some point in my twenties, I began to lose my way. By age 29, I was in an unhappy marriage and an unfulfilling career. My spiritual practice and creative passions always managed to come in second place behind my many responsibilities.

Thankfully, the voice within would not stay silent. It kept reminding me that I was meant for more. It kept reminding me of my decision, many years ago… to live deliberately, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not really lived.

The marriage ended. I left my traditional career and started a writing coaching business, Contribute Your Verse. My creativity reawakened and I fell in love with writing again. I returned to my yoga mat and my meditation cushion. I healed my past with the help of a therapist. I created a new vision for my future with the help of a life coach. I then took my boldest step of all: becoming a Certified Life Coach through a training program with the Life Purpose Institute

I found my way again. I found a path to call my own.

As a life coach, it is my highest calling to help clients find their own path. To help them hear that voice within, calling them towards their most passionate and meaningful life.

When we learn to truly hear that voice, we cut through the noise of other people’s expectations. We discover a purpose for our lives that has been there all along.

We build careers and business that honor our gifts and bring financial abundance. We nurture our bodies and our spiritual well-being. We surround ourselves with loved ones who support our true passions.

We live joyfully, authentically, deliberately. And when it comes time to die, we will know that we have truly lived.

Will you decide to live deliberately?
